The ChallengeBeats for Breath – A 24-Hour Drumming Challenge with Heart
Beats for Breath was more than just a 24-hour drumming challenge — it was a powerful tribute born from a family's love of music and their heartbreaking journey through pulmonary fibrosis. Inspired by drummer George Cooney and his brothers, who dreamed of forming a “Band of Brothers” to give back to their community, the event honoured three lives tragically lost to this devastating disease. From grief came connection, and through Pulmonary Fibrosis NI, the family found support, compassion, and a reason to keep the beat going.
On 7th–8th March 2026, drummers from all walks of life came together in Enniskillen to drum for awareness, solidarity, and hope. Leading the way was Ali Brown, Guinness World Record holder for endurance drumming, who lost his own mother to pulmonary fibrosis. From beginners to seasoned percussionists, the event welcomed all — and every rhythm played helped shine a light on this life-limiting condition.
You can still donate today to support Pulmonary Fibrosis NI’s vital services and ensure no family faces this condition alone.
