Alex runs rings around the Dublin marathon!

Today our Trustees were honoured to have met with Alex and Valerie at ‘Inis Ceithleann’.

Alex recently completed the Dublin Marathon, raising an incredible £2200.82 plus £447 in gift aid for PFNI, and concurrently raising awareness of pulmonary fibrosis.

Alex wrote, “It (sic PF) is a hereditary condition that has affected members of my family and most recently my Granda.  As a nurse myself I am passionate about raising awareness on health conditions and funding money for research within medicine. Pulmonary Fibrosis NI aims to provide support for patients, their families and carers to improve the quality of life of sufferers.  I will be running this marathon in memory of my dad, Gary Kernaghan, who was also training for this marathon 10 years ago. Sadly, during his training he was diagnosed terminally ill and never got to complete the race. Therefore running this Dublin marathon means a lot to me as I am doing it for both of us.”

Thank you Alex, we are very grateful and proud of your achievement.
